Finally
Hey Everyone,
I know it has been awhile since I have updated Ella's blog page. Ella is getting big. She is now 5 months old, weighs almost 12lbs. and is around 23 inches long. She squeals and grunts and makes all sorts of cute noises. She loves to smile. She is a great baby. We are now in Hawaii and she loves it. She has been in the pool and loves the water. I attached some pics below. Enjoy and I will try to keep you updated!

March Update
Hey Everyone,
Ella's 6 week checkup went really well. She weighed 8lbs. 15oz and was 21 inches long. She is in the 25th percentile for height, weight and head size...yes she has my head and not her dads. She is doing great and growing fast. I can't believe she is 8 weeks old today. I go back to work on Monday. I think that is going to be a tough day for me. Ella is cooing and smiling at me now when I talk to her. She is sleeping around 5-6 hours every night. :) She still eats a lot, around every 2-3 hours. Ella gets to meet her Uncle Billy for the first time tomorrow...she is looking forward to it!
Enjoy the pictures.

My First Ambulance Ride
Hello Everyone,
Well Ella and I enjoyed our first ambulance ride on Friday. She had developed a cold on tuesday and it turned into a deep cough. I took her to the doctor on friday and her oxygen level was between 88-94 and it should be from 94-100. therefore, the ambulance was called for her to be transported to Cardinal Glennon Hospital. Tests were run and X-rays were taken. She has RSV (upper respiratory infection) and a small case of pneumonia. She is receiving oxygen and antibiotics for her pneumonia. She is doing pretty good now. She is on a low level of oxygen and receives daily beatings. Just kidding. We do pound on her chest and back to help release all of the congestion in her. As soon as she is oxygen free we will be able to go home. Today (Sunday, 2/8/09), she was off oxygen in the morning, but had to be put back on it b/c she could not hold her own level. We are hoping that she can get winged off the oxygen sometime today or tonight and be able to go home tomorrow some time. Only time will tell though.
On a positive note, Ella did lose her embilicle cord last night. So when we get home we can take our first bath. She is a happy baby here in the hospital and is really cooperative with all of her treatments and is eating like a horse. We are very grateful for that!!!
I will keep you posted with her status. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
Love Always,
Leighanne, Josh & Ella :)

First Check Up
Ella went to the doctor today. She is officially one week old today. She weighs 6lbs and 14oz. She has gained 10oz since we left the hospital on Sunday. She is doing great with feedings and enjoys keeping her momma awake from midnight to 7am. Josh and I are doing great and love spending every moment of the day with her. She smiles and makes funny little squeeky noises. She likes her swing very much and is in it pretty much all day long, unless we are holding her. :) We are very blessed to have such a healthy and loving baby.
More pictures to come soon.

Doing Great
Happy Birthday Ella
Ella was born at 935 this morning. She weighed 6lb 9oz and was 20 inches long. Lots and lots of black curly hair on her head. Leighanne says she looks like a gorilla just like her mother did when she was born. They ended up having to do a C section due to some minor complications. Everything went well i just gave her her first breakfast and she was greatful. Leighanne is feeling pretty well other than being a little nausiated and her stomach is sore as expected. We'll get pictures on asap.
Getting close
Leighanne's water broke at 2 this morning and by 7:00 went from not being dialated at all to a 6. Things went really fast but everything is going great. She had an epideral at around 2:30 and has not had any discomfort since. Doctors arent really giving us a time table but they did give her a shot to slow down the dialation. Ill post again later on.

Almost Here!!!
Hey Everyone,
Josh and I went to the doctor last night. I am 39 weeks and not dialated yet. So the plan of action is: Tuesday I go back to the doctor to see if I am dialated. If not, I will check into the hospital on Wed night, receive a procedure to soften the cervix, and then be induced on Thursday morning. If I am dialated next Tuesday, I will just have to go to the hospital on Thursday morning to be induced. I am feeling pretty good right now. A little tired and sore back from doing the bunny hop, chicken dance, and parachute dance with my students this week. Great week to pick a dance unit I know!! The baby's room is all ready. Josh and I are ready to go, so unless I go before my due date, Ella will be here on Thursday, Jan 22nd. Keep checking the blog and we will keep you posted on how things proceed.
I will be uploading some pictures this week!! Bare with me, we do not have internet at home and I try to do all of this stuff on my break at school. :)
